Radiation Safety for Anesthesiologists and Other Personnel on Simultaneous PET/MRI: Possible Radiation Exposure from Patients While Performing Prolonged Duration Scans

چکیده

Abstract This observational study was conducted owing to the challenges of positron emission tomography/magnetic resonance imaging (PET/MRI) that requires longer duration scanning radiopharmaceutical injected patient and added MRI environment. The aim this assess radiation dose at different distances from burden anesthesiologist other personnel in performing PET/MRI under general anesthesia or sedation. First, pre- postscan whole body exposure (WBE) were obtained for 45 minutes (n = 109) after injection radiopharmaceutical. WBE specific brain (10, 30, 100 cm) abdomen (10 30cm) patients undergoing F18 fluorodeoxyglucose studies. Second, staff working separately measured using pocket dosimeters during procedure. In scans, mean absorbed rates (ADR) prescan (45 minutes) 44.4 31.1 μSv 10 cm, 14.9 9.7μSv 30 3.5 2.8 respectively, surface head. Similarly, it 54.8 30.3 23 13.6μSv abdomen. WB ADR higher than scans. Anesthesiologist overall found be 4.84 µSv/patient/scan (112 patients). receives a safe effective scanning. With good training adequate planning, is possible decrease all concerned including anesthesiologists.

Evaluation of Radiation Exposure Pattern and Radiation Absorbed Dose Resulting from Occupational Exposure of Anesthesiologists to Ionizing Radiation

Introduction: Little information is available concerning the radiation exposure of anesthesiologists, and no such data have previously been collected in Iran. This prospective study was performed to determine the amount of radiation exposure of anesthesiologists for the purpose of assessing whether or not dangerous levels of radiation exposures were being reached, and to identify factors that c...

Radiation safety for anesthesiologists.

PURPOSE OF REVIEW To review the recent literature on the implications of occupational radiation exposure in anesthesia practice. RECENT FINDINGS Wide variation and lack of reduction in operator doses of medical radiation strongly suggests that more attention must be paid to the factors influencing radiation dose exposure. The eye is likely the most sensitive organ for radiation injury. Radiat...

Radiation exposure to personnel performing endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography.

BACKGROUND Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) relies on the use of ionising radiation but risks to operator and patient associated with radiation exposure are unclear. The aim of this prospective study was to estimate the radiation dose received by personnel performing fluoroscopic endoscopic procedures, mainly ERCP. METHODS Consecutive procedures over a two month period we...

Radiation exposure from musculoskeletal computerized tomographic scans.

BACKGROUND Computerized tomographic scans are routinely obtained to evaluate a number of musculoskeletal conditions. However, since computerized tomographic scans expose patients to the greatest amounts of radiation of all imaging modalities, the physician must be cognizant of the effective doses of radiation that are administered. This investigation was performed to quantify the effective dose...
